We Applaud Your Awesome Memory

The memory of the human brain has been considered limitless to some while others believe it to be an uninteresting experience
Some people believe the brain has an infinite capacity to store information, others believe the memory fades with age; what could possible cause the contrast of these views?
Technique! Technique! Technique!
Everything achievable and learnable rely on technique (one can say all things rise and fall based on the use of technique); you miss the technique and the learning experience would be a frustrating one.
I will save you the details by making it simple (for this post); science has proven that the mental memory relies on certain things which I created the acronym ‘AWE’ to describe.

A       the Association
W      it’s ‘Whereabout’
E       what’s Envisioned

The Association...

Example: I noticed I tend to have a hard time remembering the Arms of Government (always forget at least one) and decided to create a strong association or link in order not to forget.
The Government has a JELLY arm….

J – Judiciary       E – Executive        L – Legislative

With the association, I promise you will not have a hard time remembering the Arms (if it was ever an issue) and it’s even better when visualized; below is a picture showing ‘my friend’ Roger holding JELLY-Fishes…

It’s ‘Whereabout’...

We are spatial beings and easily remember where things are as soon as we remember the location.
Knowledge can be abstract and vague (chemistry comes to mind), but with a strong link of that information with something tangible, placing it next to an item or furniture in a particular location (e.g. your bed in your bedroom), you have a greater chance remembering.
Example: Back to the Arms of Government and Roger (my good old friend), the illustrations below should shed more light to this

.

                                                         Roger's Home

Roger Smokes the Red cigar first thing in the morning.

Goes into the Living Room for a regular hammer hit...

Before running to the Dining Table for a Sword-session...

With the illustrations above, we see the general route of everyone from 'the wake up call' to 'time for breakfast' and this would make us remember the actions performed by Roger at every single location. The color code of the items is also a great tool.... consider the colour:

RED and you will remember the 'LEGAL' cigar - LEGISLATIVE

ORANGE and you remember hammer used by JUDGES - JUDICIARY

and finally GREEN and you remember the crossed swords - EXECUTIVE

For a final word on this, the first letters on each of the colours spells 'ROG', the first three letters of..... ROGER.

What's Envisioned...

This simply refers to what is imagined i.e. the images or insights created from your association and how memorable it is (an image is worth a thousand words).
In order to enjoy the benefits of your inward vision while learning, after a good association is created with the piece of info and a location is identified, let your imagination flood the entire scene and a memory event will be created from the your piece of information; where people are trying to remember abstract info, you are having fun just remembering a story (or series of images)...

The entire information covered here is science based (don't want to bore you with that yet) and with a basic example from remembering your to-do list, to memorizing the elements on the Periodic Table or Items being sold in your company and the cost of each, these techniques all work well... Your Memory is AWESOME!!!

The Territorian Tyrant...

Sprinting & YELLING on top of my lungs with blood, sweat & tears dripping through my pores (well maybe not blood and tears) but I bet if I saw myself jogging, I’ll hate myself cause I can be a nuisance… and there are reasons.

Been weight-training for a while & I figured weight-trainers tend to SCREAM-OUT loud to push that one last rep or ‘push’ (my noise being d greatest in order to look like a pro ;)

Why does this work? Simple; the energy released when you yell makes you feel like you doing something impressive  and secondly, the brain is like a Super-Computer which for some reason is normally programmed with fear cause of past defeats (and ignores victories except through conscious effort).

For some little biology, the brain’s got charged cells known as NEURONS & though no one knows what a piece of info looks like in d brain, science shows its connected to d electric-charges in d neurons; Billions of neurons, which are connected by DENDRITES reinforce information…… This means the more you prop yourself, the more connections you make and confidence is built.

So back to jogging…. I read up stuff about it cause I had difficulties starting and the knowledge helped to a point. However, I had to apply the same kind of SHOUTS similar to that during weight-training order to hit my target and it worked!!!

I’ve got a lot of examples and my National Stadium, Surulere – CMS Bus-Stop trial was achieved by the same process covering 7km in 45 min (this particular day was for Environmental Sanitation). Now this might not seem like much but for a chap who was tagged asthmatic as a kid, that is a big deal.

Personality type might make u think people are staring at you in the gym or while you are jogging; YEP!  I figured they will but ‘WHO CARES’. Who cares what peeps think; what peeps think has not really solved a thing but caused CHAOS. Peeps look @ me but I get the results.

Focus on what you wanna achieve & yell it out so your whole mental faculty & being accepts it but ensure you gauge where you are and consider incremental progression (I won’t run from Lagos to Kaduna just yet, but considering Lekki to Ikorodu, Lagos).

For Starters’ (Territory Cry-Outs).
·         Strength is the Product of Struggle… This is smaller than you… (Your name).
·         [Push on ………………… (your name)] *4, then breathe and repeat
·         [Push (breathe-out 1,2)….. Push on]*2
·         Yell-Out in celebration and jump, clap and nod ur head like u just hit d jackpot cause u just did.
*Consider Military/Epic Movie soundtracks while working-out…… AWESOME!!!

Holla at me and let me know your thoughts….

Muscle Brain '101'

Yo Guys,

Wasup! This is an introductory post, and it's basically about the blog's purpose.

MuscleBrain is primarily about two core ish... Building Muscles (first from my experience and then research) and Building Memory Skills (considering memory skills I stumbled on, buildup so far).

Now, the tag 'MuscleBrain' should not be viewed as strictly concerned with the brain alone, thinking well... its about building a 'muscularbrain'; I am really just gonna post stuff about both either in connection with each other or as separate entities.

The Muscle sect will focus on - Nutrition, Body Composition, Supplements and Building Muscle

The Brain sect will focus on - Brain Nutrition, Smart drugs, Learning and Memory.

Before hand, the nutrition would consider African meals cause I'm not gonna talk about food I know nothing about and secondly, I am not a doctor so my posts are experience and research based (I understand there are different body types too).

In order to ensure y'all get the most from this blog, posts will be bite size with picture illustrations for quick and easy breeze through and my delivery/conversation approach would be casual.

Don't do what I won't do,

Folabi.
